Year 5
Welcome to Year 5!
Miss Shaikh, Miss Ainslie and Miss Hiatt are the adults who work in Year 5 this year within Ash and Maple class.
PE day is Wednesday and the children should come dressed in their PE kits on that day.
Please remember:
- a filled water bottle
- packed lunch
- a piece of fruit or a cereal bar for breaktime.
We are a nut free school, please can we ask you to check ingredients to make sure all products are nut free.

Maths Prime and Square Number Investigation
Drama - Acting out our story mountain for The Golden Horsemen of Baghdad
Science - We have been looking at life cycles of different animals
Music - We have been using glockenspiels to explore our Autumn song Ghost Parade
Our library day is Thursday! Make sure you remember to bring in your books!
Art - Our topic for the first Autumn half term was Early Islam. We have created prints in the style of Islamic art that can be seen in mosques around the world.
Reading for Pleasure in Year 5
Maths - We have been looking at equivalent fractions. Some of us have been making them and some have been using times tables to find fractions that are equal. We persevered when answering problems with lots of steps! We drew on our knowledge of square numbers from our place value topic too!
D&T Making Pencil cases - Year 5 showed great resilience!
Science - We used filtering to separate mixtures!
